“UMAS” Filter Presses are used for all kinds of filtration, clarification of liquids and collection of precipitates or solids. These are available in two different designs and in various sizes i.e. Recessed Plate Type and Flush Plate & Frame Type. Selected material, skilled labour, proper inspection and supervision ensure carefree operation and long life for these Filters.
"Diamond" Filter Press
Recessed Type
In this type the distinctive feature is that the Plates have a raised rim on both sides and when in position a chamber is formed having a depth equal to twice the depth of the recess in the plate. The plates have a central feed hole and the filter cloth with a corresponding hole is fitted on both sides of the plates by a cloth nut. When the press is closed, this filter cloth forms a tight joint between the machined rims of the plates. The face of the plates is cast with pyramids forming a series of intersecting channels over the entire filtering surface.
The liquid to be filtered is pumped into the press and passing through the central hole, fills up all the chambers. The only outlet for the liquid is through the pores of the cloth and then through the outlet cocks provided in a trough and then collected in any tank. One air-vessel with pressure gauge is installed and when the pressure shows an increase without much discharge, it is an indication that the press requires to be opened and cleaned.
Our Standard Recess Type Filters are with centre feed hole as described above, but if required these can be supplied with two corner feed holes and opposite corner outlet holes.
“Crystal” Filter Press
Flush Plate & Frame Type:
In this type of Filter Press the machine faces or rims are almost level with filtering surface. A separate frame is used between them to form the chamber. The thickness of this frame determines the depth of the chamber and total cubic contents of the press. The filter cloth is not fastened to the plates, but is only hung over them and nipped between the faces of the plate and frame to form a tight joint. The Filter Cloth is thus easily removed for cleaning.
This type is recommended for filtering oils with the use of filter aids such as fullers earth, activated carbon etc.

Pumps For Filter Press

The pressure required for supplying the oil to the Filter Press and forcing it through the filter cloth is attained by the use of suitable Plunger Pump. These are supplied in two types, Single Plunger and Double Plunger types.
Gun Metal Plungers, Gun Metal Valves and Ball Bearings are used in these Pumps. These can be arranged for self-contained electric motor drive, assembled on a common platform. Drive from electric motor is through ‘V’ Pulley Drive and the second stage speed reduction is through ‘V’ Belt and also through Gears as shown in the Duplex Plunger Pump.
